Veterinary endoscopy is mainly used as an examination device for diseases of the animal’s digestive system, respiratory system, reproductive system, and other systems. It can be used in combination with specialized tools for treatment, removal of foreign objects swallowed by animals, as well as surgical and orthopedic procedures. Common clinical applications include:
Veterinary gastroscope: Veterinary endoscopy not only displays the presence of foreign objects in the stomach, but it is also used to reveal suspicious or abnormal areas in the stomach, intestines, colon, or respiratory tract. It can also be used to treat symptoms such as vomiting, salivation, dysphagia, nausea, weight loss, anorexia, diarrhea, fecal mucus, and tenesmus.
Veterinary otoscope: The incidence of external ear diseases in dogs is high. Due to the accessible nature of their external ears, an endoscopic camera connected to a veterinary otoscope can facilitate examination.
Veterinary rhinoscope: The rhinoscope can be used to diagnose various diseases in dogs and cats, such as nasal discharge, epistaxis, chronic sneezing, suspected foreign bodies, and obvious pathological changes visible on X-ray.
Veterinary laparoscope: It is used for the examination and diagnosis of acute and recurrent abdominal conditions and obvious lesions seen on X-ray films. Veterinary laparoscopic surgery is commonly used for procedures such as ovariectomy, gastropexy, and hernia repair.
Urethrocystoscope: It is suitable for most small animals, such as those with chronic cystitis, abnormal urination, trauma, or pyuria.
Bronchoscope/laryngoscope: Fiberoptic and rigid bronchoscopes and laryngoscopes can be used to examine animals with cough, bronchitis, pulmonary hyperplasia, tracheal collapse, and abnormal respiratory symptoms.
Veterinary arthroscope: It can be used for examination and surgery in large animals (such as chronic arthritis, joint pain, joint swelling, unilateral elbow muscle protrusion or fractured condyle).
Foreign body removal: Through endoscopy, various types of clamps can be used to grasp and remove foreign bodies. This allows for the removal of foreign objects that have entered the stomach, avoiding the trauma associated with surgery.
